Gennady Rozhedstvensky refuses to conduct the Boston Symphony Orchestra at Symphony Hall.
November 20, 2008
Rozhedstvensky, 77, refuses to conduct Tchaikovsky’s Manfred Symphony, the first of four scheduled concerts, because of what he feels has been disrespectful treatment in promoting his appearance. He was particularly upset because he was given subordinate billing on posters advertising the concert and very little mention in a brochure promoting them.
